Sorry for the delay

It has been 2 weeks since our sweet daughter was placed in our arms! She remains a champion eater (at her check-up last Friday she had already gained a pound and grown an inch!!) and a pretty good sleeper (although I am still pooped!!). She fits our family like a glove, and we couldn't imagine not having her around! Don't get me wrong...things have DEFINATELY changed, but I am trying to relax and not put to much pressure on myself. Two kids are A LOT different than one! Lucy continues to embrace her role as a big sister. She is helpful and attentive, and her tantrums have become less frequent. Her biggest fault is wanting to hold her all the time...not bad I am thinking.........

We figured it would be an all or nothing thing with her, and are JOYOUS she seems to have chosen the more positive route. I pray it is NOT just a novelty thing and that she will continue to mature as her sister gets older.

Vivi's skin continues to darken and become more beautiful, and she has a STUNNING head of curls. I must admit I am a bit afraid of her hair......dealing with African American hair is all new to me, and there are so many cute styles I will be able to do....it will just be a challenge trying to learn them all! I am fortunate to have a bloggy friend (this is a shout out to you Stacy!) willing to show me the ropes, and I am eager to speak with her soon!

Thanks again to all of you who have been thinking and praying for us! Thanks also for all the sweet comments. I am sorry I haven't been able to post much on yours, but I AM able to read them late at night while cuddling, and I have been thinking of you all, it is just hard to type one handed (hence my all undercase posts to some of you..lol!)!

Hugs, Me

Jill,

She is GORGEOUS...they both are! I love that photo of the two of them together in the crib, that is so precious! I hear you on two being very different from one, I've been watching my sister go through that this past year and she is tired!

I hear you on the concerns with hair...even though it will be different with a boy, I do still worry about managing it properly. I really don't want to just chop off his beautiful curls and keep his hair short like so many ppl do, but I guess we'll cross that bridge when we get to it!

Hugs,

Melba

Sorry - I don't think you should be appologizing! You're a new mom...to an infant. OH MY!
The girls are beautiful - and look like they are getting along lovingly.
Vivi's room is precious.
I was just talking to my co-worker at lunch about her daughter's hair, she's 4 and gets it straightened - it is still VERY curly, but much more manageable that way.

I am glad you found my blog! Your daughters are BEAUTIFUL! Vivi looks a lot like Aliya did when she first came home!!

I pray your bio mom changes her mind and starts some contact. We haven't heard from our's in over a year, but we still send pictures to grandma, someday we hope to meet her, or at least talk to her on the phone again. In God's time...

How nice that she is such a good baby! Makes these first weeks a bit easier I am sure. Her nursery is so pretty. She is just so beautiful and I love that Lucy is adjusting so well too. :) Sophie also fell right into big sis role when we added Bella and has stayed there. She loves being the little mommy/helper. What a lucky mommy you are! :)

Your children are beautiful! Thanks for dropping by our blog. How did you find us? We feel that SS would benefit from a little brother, but the China program is so impacted. We are going to wait until next year to decide.

What a wonderful update and I am so glad things are going so great . Vivi is just as sweet as can be and so is Lucy. Lucy seems to really relish her role as big sister.

I know things muct seem crazy with a newborn right now, but don't worry, I am sure it will get easier with a little time.

Too funny, I was just reading your post about hair and I was going to recommend you talk to Stacy and then I see you mentioned Stacy. Small workd huh? Take care sweetie and can't wait to read more and see more pictures. :)

Hugs,
Jonni

If you haven't already join the adoption hair and skin care yahoo group. I'm learning a lot lately from there. The latest topic is of product.

She's adorable. So glad Lucy has taken well to her new role as big sister.

Congratulations and hi from Columbus! I wanted you to know (in case you don't) that there is a support group for interracial families locally:
http://www.insouciant.com/ifif/

Most (but not all) of the families are white parents with adopted children of other races (usually domestically adopted although there is a growing number of international adoptive families there, too). They meet once a month in person and there is a very quiet (nearly dead, really) email list just to keep up with meetings, really.

The families are all just lovely and many are willing to share their referrals and info for hair care since it's a common concern among the parents. :)
