Fun with the Cousins

Ebert's Pumpkin Farm - Oconomowoc

This past week we traveled to Oconomowoc, WI to visit my family, and introduce them to the newest member of our brood, Miss Vivi Grace. The usual 7 1/2 hr trip from Columbus became 10+ hours with a 3 month old tagging along! LOL! We have hit 2 malls, been swimming, had Vivienne's first visit to the pumpkin farm, and spent many wonderful hours with family and friends. I must say that I never see joy radiate on my daughter Lucy's face like it does when she is with her cousins. There is a connection there, a bond, that I can see she truly shares with them. I am fortunate that no matter what family dynamics I may have with my family.....she still has this.
Vivi has also done well! The first few days she slept little at night (making for a TIRED mommy and daddy!) but the rest of the week she has slept like a trooper. My mom has really enjoyed her time with her, although I feel my brothers are both a bit uncomfortable with the fact that she is AA. (DISCLAIMER!!! THEY claim they are not...) I knew all along in the adoption that this might be the case with some people, but I had hoped deep down that when everyone finally met her, that all that would be washed away. That she would be accepted like any other member of our family. That she would capture their hearts with her cute little smile. But, it is what it is, and fortunately I have some time left to work on them before she becomes aware.
We head home tomorrow, and Thursday is Trick or Treat, so I hope to have some more pics posted soon!

Lucy looks like she had so much fun. These pics make me glad that I'm in TX and can take pictures without jackets. I even saw someone's pumpkin patch pics with snow this year. Ack!

That's awful about your brothers. We were concerned about my husbands family but as you said once they saw her they were in love. So sorry it's not that way for them.
Does Lucy realize what is going on? Hoping she is too young.

Hi Jill!
I think I missed the posts on where you've been. I missed visiting your blog, good to see you back! Vivi has grown so much. Is she too almost 7 months? You weren't too far from me on your recent trip, would've been fun to connect! I'm so sorry to hear about your brothers' uneasiness with Vivi. I can't imagine how hard that must be. Isn't it funny how people see more of the "differences" than you do. It always surprises me because they are our children and we don't see it and really how it matters anyway...
Sounds like you had a great trip and Lucy had fun with her cousins. Great pics too, you really captured her joy!
Take care, Lucy

Oh Jill,
Your girls make me SMILE...BIG.TIME!!! I want to just hold Miss Vivienne and snuggle Lucy :) I'm glad they had fun at the Pumpkin Patch.

So sorry to hear that your brother's aren't as accepting as you'd wished. It is most definitely THEIR loss and I am hopeful that Miss Vivi can ease her way into their heart before long.
You are sooo blessed!

I can't believe how TALL Lucy has gotten. It always amazes me how much kids grow over the summer. Lucy is so so sweet - love her pinkness at the Pumpkin Farm.

Hi Jill,

Your girls are just soooo cute!! Looks like they had lots of fun finding pumpkins.

The carved pumpkins in the post above turned out great!! Love the Chinese symbol one....I am sure we would never have noticed it was missing something if you had not mentioned it. : )

Glad the girls had a fun Halloween!

yeah...an update! Oh, the girls look so cute...will you tell them to stop growing up so fast??? I will be praying for your situation with your brothers...that totally stinks! But this is not above God so I will be praying that He opens their eyes to what a precious miracle that Vivi is!! Hugs girl!!!

What great pictures. The girls are adorable. Vivi is so stinkin' cute, as is Lucy. I can't get over how big they both are getting.
